It was not hard to install on my truck since it's taller. It's sturdy and provides the protection to prevent theft. I didn't need to do any drilling as I used their aluminum backer plates to install the bolts thru holes in the frame. You just need to make sure the plate is centered before you tighten up the bolts so it doesn't rub against the frame. The only downside is having to remove it each time in order to grease the front 4wd driveshaft and the lock nuts and bolts will need to be replaced after so many removals from them wearing out. It's a bit spendy for what you get but it's better than having to replace a cat and any damages.
Installed it on my 2012 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 and looks great. No issues with it.
I was excited upon receiving this only to be disappointed that it barley fit the bottom frame of my 2013 Taco. I had to drill another hole towards the front of the shield so i could push it more back and line it up to fit the back two holes of my bottom frame. I could not even use the remaining bolts for security purposes since there was nowhere to drill any other holes. May have to get some hose clamps to make sure this is 100% sturdy. I would not let this review deter anyone from wanting to buy. I think you should, especially since it still gives me some piece of mind. I'm just disappointed i paid a good penny and wasn't able to install it properly since it wasn't a "perfect" fit for my truck.
I had put one of these on my Tacoma because the cats are very easy to steel and I was impressed with the quality of the kit. It fit well and had nice hardware. I decided to buy one for my MIL's Prius and I got a flat plate that I had to bend with my knee to clear the transmission. The hardware used security screws that cannot be removed without drilling and pop rivets. You cannot remove the plate with a bit like you can on my Tacoma, you have to drill out the security screws and pop rivets which makes maintenance and repairs difficult. Disappointing
Works great. Haven't had anymore cats stolen. But know this...you WILL have to do A LOT of drilling to mount it. SO, having access to a lift is pretty much essential. Fits is great & it'll definitely slow someone down to the point that they will quickly move on. Seems a tad pricey tho.
